Whoa! I have a blog?

Filed under: Life — Adam Richards @ 9:19 pm

I totally forgot about having this blog until now. Oops.

Well, some things have changed since I last posted. I quit my job at LTM Party Store, and got a new job at Circuit City making a lot more than I was before. I’m now a senior, and my grades are slightly rising since I’m taking some classes I actually enjoy for once (yay for Physics and C++ Programming!). Somehow I became posessed at course selections for this year, and added weightlifting to fulfill my required PE credit. Me + Weights? Yeah, you’re probably laughing right now.

College planning is becoming annoying, as my parents seem to not care where I want to go, but rather where they’d like to see me go. Oh well, its my choice, not theirs, and assuming I get into Clarkson, that’s where I will be going. End of story. Now only to figure out my scholarship essays…

I’m considering getting into Photography somewhat more, and going out and buying a fullly-fledged Digital SLR. I’m considering the Nikon D80, but the price tag doesn’t make me too happy. I might go for the new SLR from Sony, the DSLR-A100. I’ll just have to wait a couple months and see what the price accomodations can get me. The D80 does come with a really nice stock lens, a 18mm-135mm, as opposed to the normal 18mm-70mm with the Sony camera. The Sony camera is about $300 cheaper though :-P .

The current Robotics captain is a fool. He doesn’t care about the team or FIRST anymore, only what the club will do for his college application. Je crois que nous avons besoin d’un coup d’état… Assuming all goes well, the Vice President will take over as the President, I will ascend to Vice President, and we’ll all have a much better time at robotics, free of the former despotic regime. The club is in a critical transitional stage, as the first seniors are graduating from the team, and we need to set everything up so that it can perpetuate its existance into the future.

I believe that this is going to be all for now. If anything happens which may contradict the last paragraph, I’ll have to do a 1984 on this post and change history. :-D

Don’t worry everyone, I’ll be back much before November this time :-)

Poor Little Rudolph…

Filed under: General — Adam Richards @ 7:36 pm

So I was sitting at work today, pricing stuff out of boxes, and I came across the catalog for the store we ordered from, Oriental Tradings.

I put it aside to read later when I had nothing else to do.

Later in the day, near closing, I decided to crack it open and look at all the X-mas stuff inside. Ornaments, wrapping paper, and everything else christmas-decorationy were all over the book, until I came across this abomination of all things Christmas:

REINDEER PINATA!

That’s right everyone: I can by myself for the low, low price of $11.95 a Reindeer Pinata! Thanks to the long-held Mexican tradition of the pinata, companies now take cute furry little woodland creatures, and turn them into swinging paper mache objects we can now bash with a stick. I wonder if my store will have any in stock this year… :-)

England 2 – Trinidad & Tobago 0

Filed under: Football — Adam Richards @ 4:59 pm

Despite Lampard's absolute inability to score anything today, given his innumerable chances, Peter Crouch finally broke through the Trinidad & Tobago defense and headed a ball into the goal in the 83rd minute, guaranteeing England a spot in the Round of 16. The 53rd minute saw the joyous return of Wayne Rooney, boosting England's morale greatly in the second half.

Musical Escapades

Filed under: Music — Adam Richards @ 9:26 pm

So I've taken some recent adventures into current popular music, and I've come across some pretty cool stuff. One of my favorites is definitely Angels & Airwaves, well known for their song, The Adventure.

Angels & Airwaves – Rock/Electronica Fusion
Absolutely fantastic. This supergroup comprised of former members from blink-182, Box Car Racer, Distillers, and The Offspring is a fresh taste in rock, deriving much experience from frontman Tom DeLonge's old band, blink-182. Several songs sound vaguely reminiscent of his old band, yet they all maintain a new flavor. Favorite songs: The Adventure, The War, Valykrie Missile… aw heck, the entire album is fantastic. 10/10

So I've decided to start a new blog. Blogger was bugging me, and with the outbreak of Flock, I've decided to try my hand at it once again. So yeah, here contained within this cyber journal are my musings, random occurances of insight, and just random thoughts that cross my mind in the course of a day.
